June 28, 2003 - Obvious plot holes in The Three Amigos.

Sure, it defined a generation, made tons of money, and generally changed the way we watched movies. It was, to use one word, a revolution. But The Three Amigos wasn't without it's plot holes.

Dismissable Plot Holes:

* After escaping from the jail in the basement of El Guapo's fortress and witnessing the gunfight between the German and Ned, Lucky held El Guapo at gunpoint. At this point, he told Ned to open the gates, where Carmen was waiting with horses. Since only Carmen and Dusty knew she would be waiting, it's hard to see why Lucky made this move. He couldn't have seen her waiting, since he was at the back of the fortress at the time. My only guess was he planned to run on foot to the hills and evade El Guapo's men.

* During the final showdown between the townspeople of Santo Poco and El Guapo's men, all of the costumes worn appear to be that of the Amigos. Yet, when the showdown is over, we see they're actually cheap imitations very different from the Amigo's costumes. Yet I can believe this if we're meant to believe that El Guapo's men, confused and under fire, believed them to all look alike.

Big Holes:

* As they're escaping El Guapo's fortress, Lucky throws down the big heavy bandito gun Ned had been using. Lucky's gun had previously been taken by El Guapo's men, adn his holster is clearly empty when he's leaving the fortress. Yet, when they reach the plane, Lucky clearly has a gun again. Where did it come from? It wasn't Ned or Dusty's gun, as they still have theirs.

* After the first showdown in Santo Poco, almost every house is damaged. Some are missing roofs, some have huge holes blown in the side. Yet, when the Amigos return with carmen, after only 2 days, all of the damage has been repaired. I don't think rural villagers could have rebuilt an entire village in 2 days.
