August 04, 2003 - It's so true...

I can't say anything about this other than the fact that it's so true they may as well publish it as a reference guide.

Tell me it's not. I dare ya. I used to have the Windows 98 install dance down to a half day affair. Someone, someday, will eventually figure out how and why Windows does what it does. How it decides which piece of new hardware it's going to detect first, and how it figures out how many times it needs to reboot for each particular piece of hardware.

The best bits are always those catch-22 loops. Like the need to get an updated ethernet driver from off the net so you can use your ethernet card. Or the need to select an install directory for your mouse driver... so you can use your mouse. Charming little things like that.

I'm glad I don't live there anymore.

I had my cast taken off my hand roughly 16 days ago. I only had the cast on for 3 weeks, and for 3 weeks before that I had a soft cast on. So if you're keeping score, that's 6 weeks with my arm/hand pretty much locked.

It felt good to get it off. Actually, good is a bit of an understatement. The ability to shower without having to wrap one arm in plastic is one of those joys in life you don't realise you have until you lose it.

Then something else happens. Like your formerly concealed hand, apparently angry at having to spend 7 weeks under plaster or fiberglass, starts sprouting hair that would make teen wolf jealous. But just on the top of the hand. And trust me on this, if you've got a choice between ONE really hairy hand or two, take two.

Hopefully this is temporary.
